You likely won’t need to wear makeup anymore, and concealer will be something from the past. Get ready to transform your skin because all the information you need is right here. Below are the steps to follow on how to get a clear skin.
1. Wash your face in the morning, night, and right after you get off work or finish exercising!
There is nothing that can make your skin look duller, greasier, and contribute to an acne problem more than not washing your face regularly. Make sure you implement this tip, because without it your efforts will be fruitless!
If you don’t have acne, it doesn’t matter what you wash your face with. Bar soap, hand soap, shampoo, and beauty cleansers all work just as well. Some soaps are harsher than others, however, so make sure you are using a mild version.
2. If you do have acne, wash your face (or other areas) with a benzoyl peroxide wash.
The company Clean & Clear makes a good 10% benzoyl peroxide wash that is very effective at controlling acne when used regularly. It only costs about $7 and should last for three to four weeks.
Using this product during every wash throughout your day inhibits the bacteria within your pores from growing and causing pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. This method is a must-do if you want to know how get clear skin.
3. ALWAYS moisturize your skin well after you have cleansed it!
Each time you wash your face, it is very important that you also rehydrate it with a moisturizer. If you don’t do this, your body attempts to rehydrate it by producing more oils, which can lead to breakouts and discoloration.
By providing your body with “clean” hydration in the form of a skin lotion or cream, you are telling it that there is no need to pump oil into the skin. This is very important for an acne sensitive skin treatment; as more sensitive people are more prone to breakouts.
Your best bet for a moisturizer is an oil free sensitive skin cream, preferably with sunscreen. I personally use a moisturizing cream called Expert Sensitive Hydrating Moisturizer by the company Bootes.
It costs only about $5 per jar, but I have found that it works even better than more expensive beauty creams. Boots moisturizer was recommended to me by a department cosmetologist who clearly knew her stuff! 🙂
4. Ask your doctor about doxycycline.
Doxycycline is a common and inexpensive acne pill that is very effective at controlling acne. I have used it with fabulous results, as well as no side effects.
Doctors often prescribe these acne pills to people who need more than just a topical gel or cream, and most find that it works very well. As an additional step in eliminating acne, it might be worth looking into with your doctor.
Step 5. Exfoliate regularly for beautiful skin!
One of the most overlooked parts of maintaining a clear face, neck and back is exfoliating. Most people with bad skin are either afraid exfoliating will worsen the problem, or don’t realize just how important it is.
Exfoliating takes away skin buildup and allows your epidermis to breathe. Depending on your skin type, you should be exfoliating every other day to three times per week.
So what should you use to do this? Your best bet is an exfoliating mitten or a shower brush. Face washes and creams with microbeads just aren’t enough. You shouldn’t be scrubbing to the point that you damage your skin, but enough so that all of the old stuff is removed. Be sure to use a moisturizer afterwards!
Step 6. What to do about acne and makeup!
Most people with facial acne wear makeup in an attempt to hide the sight of it. Unfortunately, this can cause the problem to worsen.
If you are wearing a cream foundation, now is the time to stop. Not only are these products filled with chemicals that worsen your skin’s condition, they also clog your pores and trap the chemicals beneath the top layer of your epidermis. This creates a prime environment for acne to grow and spread.
If you must wear makeup, only wear a talc-free powder. While many powders don’t provide much coverage, mineral makeup often does a great job. I have personally found that the brand Physician’s Formula provides very natural looking coverage, at a reasonable price, and won’t damage your skin.
Step 7. Apply a facial mask every 4-8 days.
One of the best tips for clear skin you can put to action is to try using face masks. Generally, the best kind involve clay and/or avocado, both of which draw out the impurities from deep in your skin to the outside.
The key with face masks is to apply them regularly, but not too often. Once in a while isn’t going to help you much, but your skin can really improve if used once or twice a week and followed with a moisturizer.
Step 8. You are what you eat!
People generally like to skip this part, because eating healthily can be difficult. The harsh truth is however, that it is nearly impossible to have great skin if you eat junk all day! Drink lots of water, take a daily multivitamin, and eat only healthy foods to create beautiful, long lasting clear skin. All of these tips for clear skin combined and put into action are sure to give you the best skin of your life, as well as the most compliments! Be sure to follow these instructions to the tee and then enjoy the results.
